20. Malcha Mahal, New Delhi

The paranormal activities of Malcha Mahal are famous among the most haunted stories in the city of Delhi. The palace is situated in the forest area behind Buddha Garden. Reporters, forest officers or locals, all keep a fair distance and think twice before entering the premises. The warning related to the hound dogs and trespassers being gunned down (since the government gave the authority to shoot down anyone who proves to be a treat to the property) also scares people off this ground.

It is actually a Parsi cemetry situated near the Malabar Hills. Parsi’s have the ritual of leaving the bodies of their dead on the roof top of a tower to be fed by the vultures. Even the imagination of those scenes would bring shivers to your body. It is also believed that the paranormal incidents occurring in Grand Pararri Towers in Mumbai happens due to the spectral forces emanating from this cemetery.

Sanjay Van is a huge forest area spread over around 10 kms. People have reported having seen a lady dressed in a white saree appearing and disappearing suddenly around the cremation ground near that area. No wonder this area is regarded as most haunted place in Delhi. Make sure that you are not alone here, especially after the dark.

Dow Hill might not be a very sought after place but is definitely one of the most haunted places in India. The Dow Hill Boarding School for Girls is very well known for spooky activities bordering on the paranormal. There have been reports talking of ghostsightings.Also, the forest that surrounds the school is considered to be haunted. In fact, many woodsmen who visit the forest have reported seeing a headless boy who suddenly appears and then disappears into the forests. Legend has it that there were innumerable murderswhich took place in this forest area.

15. Khairtabad College, HYDERABAD

This college is no longer used by anyone and has stayed abandoned for the longest time. People have spotted walking skeletons and unusual lightening around. The guard appointed to keep a check on this place was found dead and no one dares to lurk around this ruined building anymore.

14. South Park Cemetery, Kolkata

This is yet another haunted place in Kolkata. Reportedly, those visiting this site have died unexpectedly. Apparently, a group of friends who visited the place and clicked a picture here started facing weird things. The person who clicked the photograph had an asthma attack and he wasn’t an asthma patient, ever!

13. Jamali-Kamali Masjid


It is unfair to look at a holy place as haunted. Most people wouldn’t even believe. But some jihns do haunt this tranquil masjid. The visitors could expect to get slapped by invisible hands and chased by the mysterious wind. Most people avoid this place after sunset.

12. Mukesh Mills, Mumbai


Mukesh Mills, built in 1870, is another haunted place that has gained notoriety over the last century. According to reports, an actress once became possessed by a spirit and told staffers to clear out of the place in a spooky male voice. Bipasha Basu is also said to have experienced paranormal events here.

11. Feroz Shah Kotla Fort, Delhi

It is unsafe to leave women unattended at this location. Evil spirits loiter around the ruins of Feroz Shah Kotla, who attack young women and haunt them later. What more! The spirits like being offered sweets, we hear!

For instance people who pass this place claim to have seen four males sitting together and enjoying an alcoholic beverage by the light of a single candle. At first, this was not considered spooky for it could just be four friends having a good time but once it was established that it was indeed four ghosts, people in and around the area became increasingly interested. In addition, some claim to also witness a young girl coming out of the house in what many people believe to be a red dress. With time people have abandoned that place for obvious reasons but it continues to catch the fancy of those who love the paranormal.

Being one of the biggest film cities in the country, this place is home to a lot of hotels which have been projected to a lot of controversy because of the reported “supernatural activities” in and around them.
Witnesses report the lights kept on top keep falling off, the light men- who sit with the lights on top have been pushed so many times and many have had grievous injuries. The food left in rooms also gets scattered around the room and strange marks are left on the mirrors.
Females are more targeted by the ghosts than the males. Girls reported an invisible force tearing their clothes off, some said they felt someone knock their washroom doors while the rooms remain locked from the inside. They create havoc. Many preventive measures have been taken but in vain. Must visit haunted place in India in case you want to experience the paranormal for yourself.

8. Fern Hill Hotel, Ooty

This hotel, now shut down due to incidents of alleged haunting, shot to fame due to a curious incident that occurred on the sets of Raaz. Choreographer Saroj Khan and her troupe had settled down to sleep one night when somebody began rearranging furniture in the room above. Soon, the screeching and slamming sounds rose to such a pitch that sleep became a distant prospect. Attempts to contact the reception desk went in vain because the telephone line was dead. Finally, some of the frustrated crew members went down to complain, only to have the hotel staffers point out that there was no floor above theirs.

7. The Church Of Three Kings, Goa

The story behind this church is a classic example of why there is enough in the world for man’s need, but not his greed. Back in the day, three Portuguese kings always fought over the kingdom of Goa. Finally, one of them called the other two for a meeting at the now famous The Church Of Three Kings, and poisoned them. When the people discovered what the king had done, they came after him in a bloodthirsty horde. Unwilling to be lynched in public, he committed suicide by consuming poison. All the three were buried in the same church. This is a haunted place in India that is NOT avoided by visitors.


6. Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune

It is said that a 13 year old Price was brutally killed here by his relatives and his spirit haunts the fort. People claim that they can hear spine chilling cries and shrieks during the night. To be specific, it is believed that when the prince learnt about the plot of his murder, he ran to his uncle shouting- “kaka mala vachva” (Uncle, save me). Till today, locals claim that they can hear the same sounds over and over again.

5. Brij Raj Bhavan in Kota, Rajasthan

The 178-year-old Brij Raj Bhavan Palace of the former princely family of Kota in Rajasthan, which was converted into a heritage hotel in the 1980s has a resident ghost, namely that of Major Burton, who, while serving as the British Resident to Kota, was killed along with his two sons, by Indian sepoys during the 1857 Mutiny. The ghost of Major Burton does not harm anybody.

4. Dumas Beach, Gujarat

This scary beach which is known for its creepy atmosphere . Dumas Beach is an urban beach along the Arabian Sea located 21 Km southwest of Surat City in India satate of Gujarat. It is a popular tourist destination in south Gujarat . This beach is famous for two things – its black sand and the latter, it is the most haunted place in Gujarat.
As per the reports, so many people had been disappeared at the beach mysteriously and never come back . In the past, this place was used as “Hindu Burial Ground” and that’s why this place becomes haunted place of Surat. Wind around this area is said to be full of spirits of dead people. As dark appears, scary giggle and laughter provide a hair rising experience.

3. The Lambi Dehar Mines, Mussoorie

It is considered as one of the most haunted places in India.The mines were shut down after
half a million workers died coughing blood due to improper mining conditions. Locals
believe that the place has turned into a home for a witch who walks down the hills at night and has claimed many life. Rapid occurrences of accidents and unusual deaths have also made this place rank amongst the spookiest places in the country.

2. Agrasen Ki Baoli, Delhi

They say Agrasen Ki Baoli is frequented by tourists during the day, and spirits at night. Rumour has it that the place was once filled with black water, enticing visitors to waddle their way to a watery grave. The site recently appeared in PK, with Aamir Khan’s character sitting on its long stone staircase.

Stories suggest that this stepped well was once filled with black water that enticed people to jump into it and commit suicide. Even today, it is believed that the place casts an evil spell on visitors who stay there post sunset. Readers, beware!

The ghost town of Bhangarh is one of the scariest, spookiest places you could possibly imagine, not to mention, one of the most haunted places in India. Situated near a popular forest, this town is now slowly luring visitors from around the area, and country, for all the wrong reasons.
It should be noted that if you decide to visit this place after the sun has gone down, you won’t be allowed to. In fact, there is a strict warning about how dangerousthis place becomes after sunset.
The story which this town is well-known for tells the tale of a magician who fell in love with the local princess of the area even though their match was impossible. Being quite the master of dark magic, he decided to cast a spell on her to make her surrender to him. However, the princess learned of his plans and found a way to kill him. Before his death, however, the magician cast a dark spell on the palace which caused its doom.
Despite Bhangarh Fort being regarded as one of the most horror haunted places in India has been officially promoted as a tourist destination. However, once the night falls and the darkness takes over, this place becomes deserted, leaving it prey to the supposed ‘supernatural’.
